Safari

The large Multi-Touch screen on iPad lets you see web pages as they were meant to be seen one whole page at a time. With vibrant color and sharp text. So whether you're looking at a page in portrait or landscape, you can see everything at a size that's actually readable. And with iPad, navigating through the web has never been easier, or more intuitive. Because you use the most natural pointing device there is: your finger. You can scroll through a page just by flicking your finger up or down on the screen. Or pinch to zoom in or out on a photo. There's also a thumbnail view that shows all your open pages in a grid, to let you quickly move from one page to the next.

See and touch your email in ways you never could before. In landscape, you get a split-screen view, showing both an opened email and the messages in your Inbox. To see the opened email by itself, you just turn iPad to portrait, and the email automatically rotates and fills the screen. No matter which orientation you use, you can scroll through your mail, compose a new email using the large, on-screen keyboard, or delete messages, with nothing more than a tap and a flick. If someone emails you a photo, you can see it right in the message. You can also save the photos in an email directly to the built-in Photos app. And iPad will work with all the popular email providers, including MobileMe, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, and AOL.

Photos

With its crisp, vibrant display, and its unique software features, iPad is an extraordinary way to enjoy and share your photos. For example, the new Photos app displays the photos in an album as though they were in a stack. Just tap or pinch to open the stack, and the whole album opens up. Then you can flip through your pictures, zoom in or out, or watch a slideshow. You can even use your iPad as a beautiful digital photo frame while your iPad is docked or charging. And there are lots of ways to import photos: you can sync them from your computer, download them from an email, or import them directly from your camera using the Apple Camera Connection Kit.

Videos

The large, high-resolution screen makes iPad perfect for watching any kind of video: from HD movies and TV shows, to podcasts and music videos. You can also easily move between wide-screen and full-screen with a double-tap. And because it's essentially one big screen, with no buttons or anything to distract you, the picture fills your line of sight. So you feel completely immersed in what you're watching.

Youtube

The YouTube app organizes videos so they're really easy to see and navigate. To watch one, you just tap it. When you're watching in landscape, the video will automatically play in full screen. And with its high-resolution display, the latest YouTube HD videos will look amazing on iPad.

Games

The A4 chip inside iPad was custom-designed by Apple engineers to be extremely powerful yet extremely power efficient. The performance is unlike anything you’ve ever seen on a touch-based device. Which makes iPad fantastic for everything from productivity apps to games. At the same time, the A4 chip is so power efficient that it helps iPad get up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. And iPad is available with a choice of 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of flash storage,4 giving you lots of room for your photos, movies, music, apps, and more.

iPod

With the iPod app, all your music is literally at your fingertips. You can browse by album, song, artist, or genre, with a simple flick. To play a song, just tap it, and the now playing screen will show the album art at full size. Then you can listen to your music with either the powerful built-in speaker, or with wired or Bluetooth wireless headphones.

iTunes

Just tap on the iTunes Store icon, and you can browse and buy music, TV shows, podcasts - or buy and rent movies - wirelessly, right from your iPad. There are thousands of movies and TV shows (in both standard and high definition), along with thousands of podcasts, and millions of songs to choose from. You can even preview songs before you buy them. And you can sync iPad with the content you already have in your iTunes library on your Mac or PC.

App Store

iPad will run almost 140,000 apps from the App Store. Everything from games to business apps, and more. And new apps that have been designed just for iPad are highlighted, so you can easily find the ones that take full advantage of its features. Just tap the App Store icon on the screen and you'll be able to browse, buy, and download apps wirelessly, right to the iPad.

iBooks

The iBooks app is a great, new way to read and buy books. Just download the app for free from the App Store, and you'll be able to buy everything from classics to bestsellers from the built-in iBookstore. Once you've bought a book, it's displayed on your Bookshelf. To read it, all you have to do is tap on it and it opens up. The high-resolution, LED-backlit screen displays everything in sharp, rich, color, so it's very easy to read, even in low light.

Maps

See more of the world with high-resolution Satellite and Street View images. You can even see topography with the new Terrain view. You can also search for a nearby business type (for example, "Restaurant" ) and then tap on that business to see the route and directions from your current location.

Best of MWC 2010 - Most Anticipated Mobiles

The Mobile World Congress that was recently held in Barcelona had all of our favorite mobile manufacturers show off their latest wares. There’s a lot of good stuff coming our way this year in all shapes and sizes. 2010 looks like a great year for mobile technology. Out of the wide range of devices showcased, here are the ones we’re most eager to see hit the Indian shelves this year.

Samsung I8520 Beam

To settle things once and for all, Samsung’s Android (v2.1 Éclair) DLP Pico Projector mobile phone is called the Beam now although it was previously dubbed the Halo. It may be large but who cares, it’s got a projector on board. Not only does it project whatever’s currently visible on your handset’s display, you can also use the camera to project whatever’s underneath the device. The biggest enhancement for the projector is the fact that the handset is equipped to read DivX and XviD file formats for video. It’s a matter of dragging and dropping files for instant playback on a large screen. The main display is scratch resistant and the UI supports multi-touch functionality. Another interesting detail about the display is its Super AMOLED resolution that’s designed to really make colors pop. To run all of this, Samsung has loaded the I8520 with an 800 MHz Processor.

The I8520 Pico Projector Phone also has quite a few more goodies to offer which include

  • 3.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution
  • 3G (with HSDPA and HSUPA), EDGE/GPRS
  • Wi-Fi (with DLNA Support), Bluetooth v2.1, USB 2.0
  • GPS with A-GPS and support for Google Maps with Geotagging for the camera
  • 8 Megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash
  • Stereo FM radio
  • 3.5mm handsfree socket
  • MicroSD card support
  • DivX and XviD video codec support, Samsung’s DNSe for enhanced audio

HTC Legend
The Android OS has been gaining ground at a very steady pace and HTC’s custom UI, Sense, has also made quite a bit of progress offering quite a bit more with multi-touch capability. The Legend, their newest Android device runs on v2.1 (also called Éclair) and looks exquisite in its aluminum (single block) casing. It‘s like a perfect balance of style, class and functionality as it incorporates a 600MHz CPU and a HTC Optical Trackball system for navigation. HTC has also designed the phone with their signature ‘chin’ styling.

The Legend also features -

  • 3.2-inch AMOLED multi-touch touchscreen display with a 320 x 480 pixel resolution and 16 million colors
  • 3G (with HSDPA and HSUPA), EDGE/GPRS
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v2.1, USB 2.0
  • GPS with A-GPS and support for Google Maps with Geotagging for the camera
  • 5 Megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash
  • Stereo FM radio
  • 3.5mm handsfree socket
  • MicroSD card support

Sagem Puma Phone
Sagem may not be an entirely popular brand for the average mobile customer although at one time their Bleu range was very prominent in the country. The French manufacturer now sticks to designing handsets that fit into the premium luxury class like the two Porsche mobiles and now they’ve revealed a new handset for apparel designer Puma. This simple yet funky looking touchscreen handset comes with a customized UI that looks very simple and easy to use. It’s built for the sporty lot and incorporates plenty of features to keep them happy. Some of those features include a speedometer for when you’re cycling. There’s even a music player that’s designed to look like a DJ’s turn-table and even works as a scratch pad for music. It also has a solar panel at the back for charging.

Other features the Puma comes with include -

  • 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution
  • 3G (with HSDPA and HSUPA), EDGE/GPRS
  • Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, USB 2.0
  • GPS with A-GPS support, Geotagging for the camera
  • 3.2 Megapixel camera with LED flash
  • Stereo FM radio
  • 3.5mm handsfree socket
  • MicroSD card support

Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro
SE’s Xperia X10 is already on my list of most anticipated lists this year. It’s another Android powered device that has recently spawned ‘offspring’ – the X10 mini and The Mini Pro. The Mini is just a smaller version of the X10 but Mini Pro is that plus a slide out QWERTY adding a little more functionality. With dimensions of 90 x 52 x 17 mm it’s a small palm sized handset which could be serious trouble for Samsung’s Corby Pro. Running on an Android v1.6 OS, SE has infused their new Timescape UI into the Mini Pro. The new UI is designed to make all forms of mobile access extremely finger friendly.

The Mini Pro also comes with -

  • 2.5-inch touchscreen display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution
  • 3G (with HSDPA and HSUPA), EDGE/GPRS
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v2.1, USB 2.0
  • GPS with A-GPS and support for Google Maps with Geotagging for the camera
  • 5 Megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash
  • Stereo FM radio
  • 3.5mm handsfree socket
  • MicroSD card support

Windows Mobile 7 Handset
Although there’s been no word on the actual handset itself, I’m looking forward to the latest version of the Windows Mobile operating system, namely version 7. The preliminary layout of the OS looks really good and shows tremendous promise. Microsoft themselves have stated that they’ve decided to start from scratch with this new version and that’s a great idea. Previous versions, although feature rich, were a little drab and mostly dependent on the use of a resistive touchscreen and a stylus. All that changed when the HTC HD came along. But version 7 promises to be more finger friendly and the handset’s ‘divorce’ from the stylus is one scenario I’m really looking forward to.

The latest news from the Microsoft camp is that their handset is expected sometime in 2011 and Asus will be the ones designing and building it. That’s a long wait but it’s just the beginning of the year and a lot can change, I’m hoping.

There’s no word when any of these handsets will hit the Indian market officially, but  have a feeling they just might be worth the wait.

Stunning crop art

You are about to see the stunning crop art that has sprung up across rice fields in Japan. Its not an alien creation ha ha... the designs have been cleverly planted.

The farmers used no inks or dye to created this huge displays Instead, it is of different colours of rice plants that have been precisely and strategically arranged and grown in the paddy fields.

As summer progresses and the plants shoot up, the detailed artwork begins to emerge.

Smaller works of crop art can be seen in other rice-farming areas of Japan. The farmers create the murals by planting little purple and yellow-leafed kodaimai rice along with their local green-leafed tsugaru roman variety to create the coloured patterns between planting and harvesting in September.

The murals in Inakadate cover 15,000 square metres of paddy fields.

From ground level, the designs are invisible, and viewers have to climb the mock castle tower of the village office to get a glimpse of the work.

Rice-paddy art was started there in 1993 as a local revitalization project, an idea that grew out of meetings of the village committee.

Closer to the image, the careful placement of thousands of rice plants in the paddy fields can be seen.

The different varieties of rice plant grow alongside each other to create the masterpieces.

In the first nine years, the village office workers and local farmers grew a simple design of Mount Iwaki every year. But their ideas grew more complicated and attracted more attention.

In 2005 agreements between landowners allowed the creation of enormous rice paddy art.

A year later, organizers used computers to precisely plot planting of the four differently colored rice varieties that bring the images to life. The largest and finest work is grown in the Aomori village of Inakadate, 600 miles north of Tokyo, where the tradition began in 1993.

The village has now earned a reputation for its agricultural artistry and this year the enormous pictures of Napoleon and a Sengoku-period warrior, both on horsebacks, are visible in a pair of fields adjacent to the town hall. Napoleon on horseback can be seen from the skies, created by precision planting and months of planning between villagers and farmers in Inkadate.

A Sengoku warrior on horseback has been created from hundreds of thousands of rice plants; the color's created by using different varieties, in Inakadate in Japan.

More than 150,000 visitors come to Inakadate, where just 8,700 people live, every summer to see the extraordinary murals. Each year hundreds of volunteers and villagers plant four different varieties of rice in late May across huge swathes of paddy fields. Another famous rice paddy art venue is in the town of Yonezawa in the Yamagata prefecture. This year's design shows the fictional 16th-century samurai warrior Naoe Kanetsugu and his wife, Osen, whose lives feature in television series Tenchijin. Fictional warrior Naoe Kanetsugu and his wife Osen appear in fields in the town of Yonezawa, Japan.

And over the past few years, other villages have joined in with the plant designs. Various artwork has popped up in other rice-farming areas of Japan this year, including designs of deer dancers.

Youtube data becomes corrupted !!

I was reading a forum in CNET regarding the signature errors arise while browsing. I come up to read this hint by a CNET user..(Dango).
Read this...is it true ???

By Dango:
Data becomes corrupt. I viewed this video over six months ago it was crystal clear, nearly high definition. (yes, I realize some shots where made with a frosted lenses. See the musician while sitting and singing in the studio, even here the image quality has begun to regrade. Also note the introductory screen with production data posted on it.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBmAUlF7Woo&feature=channel_page

This video has been viewed now over 2,000,000 times and has become fuzzy. 2,000,000 more views and it may not be clearly visible at all. I believe the cause is hardware memory leakage. YouTube has millions of these gradually degrading video files. Each pass through the hardware make them worse. Those that are viewed the most are the most effected. All of them go through various scans periodically so all will become corrupted over time. Try it for yourself, find a new popular video and check back on it from time to time.

Guys suggest whether its true or not..

Kutty

Cast: Dhanush, Shriya Saran, Radha Ravi, Vincent Ashokan, Rajalakshmi and Mayilsamy
Director: Mitran. R. Jawahar
Music: Devisri Prasad
Producer: Gemini Film Circuit

Kutty, the movie is the remake of Telugu flick Arya with Allu Arjun in the lead. It is an entertaining movie altogether. Being an average flick there is no suspense in the movie as the story is known to all.

Shriya Saran and Sameer Dattani are in the same college and at one point Sameer Dattani force Shriya to love him. Dhanush is made to enter the screen at this point. Dhanush loves Shriya and Shriya loves Sameer. It’s not a love triangle nor one side love.

When Shriya tries to ignore Dhanush, he offer help to her and Sameer to fulfill their love. At the same point of time he challenges Sameer to curb his love so that Shriya doesn’t fall for him. Finally Sameer’s father Radha Ravi, a politician, plans to marry off Sameer to his friend’s daughter the couple runs away from home and Dhanush brings them to his village after a long chase. Soon Sameer disappears and Dhanush takes care of Shriya until Sameer returns after a week with his father, after convincing him. They all then return and at the time of marriage Shriya tells Sameer she want to marry Dhanush. What made her say so??? All lies in the climax.

The remake doesn’t give anything new. It is an average movie with lots of action scenes and good songs. It shows a campus love and its atmosphere. Dhanush is successful in imparting good comedy with good counter in it. Radha Ravi, Vincent Ashokan, Rajalakshmi and Mayilsamy are there but not seen often gives a feeling of one man show.

Nothing much is there in the movie but is watchable for time pass. It is produced by Gemini Film Circuit and is directed by Mitran. R. Jawahar, the same man who did Yaaradi Nee Mohini.
