Feeling proud to say I’m the former student of SCAD College. Yeah I have done my Diplomo Engineering (DECE) at SCAD in the year 1999 and also I’m pride to be one the student of the first batch. SCAD is the main landmark of our village Cheranmahadevi. I can say our village developed and became popular due to our college - SCAD. At that time SCAD started only Polytechnic and ITI, due to its growth within short period now many more institution has started like Engineering College, PG courses etc. SCAD rocks......

Management

Dr. Cletus Babu, the Founder and Chairman of SCAD emerged as social worker after serving as a Catholic Priest for 7 years in Southern Tamil Nadu. He started his rural development service at Cheranmahadevi in the year 1985. Even from his very young age he had a burning desire to help the underprivileged people in the society. His student life gave chance to meet socially isolated and vulnerable people like leprosy patients, disabled children, widows, deserted women etc. So he wished to become a priest in order to serve this society. Later he decided to choose a normal life and do exceeding and exemplary service to this subjugated people. Dr. Amali Cletus Babu gave hands to stand with Dr. Cletus Babu as a life partner in the year 1988 and together they rendered their life for the upliftment of the socially disadvantaged people.

A humanitarian, Dr. S. Cletus Babu has been continuously striving to create a society based on social sensitivity, equality, justice and self-reliance. Adopting a humane approach, he has been empowering communities through education and social upliftment.

He started institutions for several helpless people like....

• Mentally retarded children,
• Children of saltpan workers. He also started employment oriented technical institutes
• Industrial training institute,
• Polytechnic College ,
• Community College,
• Gramodhaya Institute etc.
• Colonies for leprosy-affected people,
• Care centers for old aged people and destitute etc.
